About HAFSTRAND

HAFSTRAND’s mission is to promote marine safety, efficiency, and sustainability and to expand yachting to new areas.

HAFSTRAND was founded to address the needs of yachtsmen, particularly those sailing in high latitude areas. While routing software and weather forecasting resources are abundant, access at sea is limited and automated programs are not able to take personal preferences and needs into account. To enhance safe passage for yachts, HAFSTRAND offers real-time routing information, experienced and passionate crew, nautical education, and marine consulting services.

HAFSTRAND originated in the remote Westfjords region of Iceland and is short for haf- og strandsvæðastjórnun, which is Icelandic for “coastal and marine management”.
